About
Strange Machines is Ricardo Barraza and Mike MacDonald on guitars and
vocals, Christian Perron on keys/synths, Bill Noonan on drums, Kris
Hanson on bass. Mike and Ricardo have been playing in bands together
since 2006, yet 2010 marks the beginning of their songwriting venture.
Blending genres such as reggae, rock, funk, dub, jamtronica and prog,
Strange Machines have set high standards for their
musical
aspirations. Combining soulful melodies and harmonies with intricate
instrumentation, they have created a unique sound that radiates with
listeners. Catchy hooks & choruses met with high powered improvised
jamming and complex orchestration makes this band a force to be reckoned
with.
Strange Machines has an impressive resume for such a new
band. In their first year and a half, they have played numerous sold
out shows at notable Boston venues such as The Middle East Downstairs
& Upstairs, Brighton Music Hall, The Sinclair, Hard Rock Cafe and
Davis Square Theatre, as well as debuting in New York City back in Oct
2012. They have also opened for national-touring acts such as John
Brown's Body, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Badfish, Fear Nuttin Band,
Ballyhoo and Consider The Source.
With the release of their
first studio EP "Space Cadet", Strange Machines has taken a foothold in
the Northeast music scene. Over the course of 2013 the band made it's
first tour around the region, performing at reputable venues throughout
VT, NH, CT, RI and NY. During the summer they performed at festivals
such Camp Coldbrook, SoNo Arts Fest and Wachusett Mt Music Festival.
The guys will be headed back into the studio to begin work on their
first full-length album, which they plan to release sometime in
Spring/Summer of 2014. Tune in guys and girls, and keep a watchful on
Strange Machines...
