Duppy Conquerors

About

Bob Marley tribute band the Duppy Conquerors consist of some of Boston's best Reggae musicians and were recently nominated for a Boston Music Award.  They are not a "Tribute Band" trying to look and dress like Bob Marley and the Wailers.  They are musicians that respect the "sound and spirit" of Bob Marley and the Wailers.  With nearly 3/4 of his repertoire under their belts they are the quintessential Bob Marley tribute and by the way… The Wailers first performance in the United States was in 1973 at Paul's Mall in Boston.  CLICK HERE to read a preview.

The Duppy Conquerors had the pleasure of performing Marley's album, originally released on the Island Records (Tuff Gong/Universal) label, entitled "Kaya" in it's entirety on it's re-release date April 23, 2013 at Redstar Union in Cambridge MA.  They shared the night with music journalist Steve Morse who wrote the liner notes for the re-release.  Steve consulted Duppy Conquerors sax player Jeff Robinson as he prepared and researched and quoted Jeff in the liner notes.  At Redstar Union Steve spoke of his interviews of Bob Marley and the Duppy Conquerors performed the entire "Kaya" album and portions of the show was streamed live on BobMarley.com and the Boston Globe wrote a preview about the performance.

Collectively the Duppy Conquerors have performed or shared the stage with; The Wailers, Ziggy Marley, The Skatalites, Jackie Mitto, U-Roy, Black Uhuru, Mikey Dread, Sugar Minott, Sly & Robbie, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Yellowman, Eek-A-Mouse, Steel Pulse, Toots & The Maytals, Roland Alphonso, Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, Lloyd Knibb, Laurel Aitken, Lord Tanamo, Gil Scott Heron, Olatunji, Richie Havens, and many more!

Named after Bob Marley's hit song entitled "Duppy Conqueror."  The term means "Killer of Bad Spirits" and that they are!  The Duppy Conquerors will Lively Up Yourself, Jammin' Bob Marley's music!
